Born on June 1, 1958, in Los Angeles, California, Landau grew up in a family of musicians. His father, a jazz pianist, and his mother, a singer, exposed him to music at an early age. Landau started playing the guitar when he was just eleven years old and quickly developed a passion for the instrument.
