Elisabeth Harrison was born on May 12, 1985, in London, England. She grew up in a family of musicians, with her mother being a pianist and her father a cellist. From a young age, Elisabeth showed a keen interest in music and began playing the violin at the age of four. Elisabeth's parents recognized her talent and encouraged her to pursue a career in music. She began taking lessons with renowned violin teachers and quickly gained a reputation as a prodigy. At the age of ten, she made her debut performance with the London Symphony Orchestra, playing the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto. Throughout her teenage years, Elisabeth continued to hone her skills and perform at various concerts and competitions. She won numerous awards, including first prize at the Menuhin International Violin Competition and the Yehudi Menuhin Award for Outstanding Young Musicians. In 2003, Elisabeth was accepted into the prestigious Juilliard School in New York City, where she studied under the tutelage of Itzhak Perlman. During her time at Juilliard, she continued to excel, winning the school's concerto competition and performing as a soloist with the Juilliard Orchestra. After graduating from Juilliard in 2007, Elisabeth embarked on a successful career as a soloist and chamber musician. She has performed with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra, and the Berlin Philharmonic. One of Elisabeth's most memorable performances was at the 2012 Proms in London, where she played the Sibelius Violin Concerto with the BBC Symphony Orchestra. Her performance was widely praised by critics, with The Guardian describing it as "a masterclass in virtuosity and musicality." Elisabeth is also an accomplished chamber musician and has collaborated with some of the world's leading ensembles, including the Emerson String Quartet and the Guarneri Quartet. In 2015, she formed her own chamber group, the Harrison Quartet, which has received critical acclaim for its innovative programming and dynamic performances. In addition to her performing career, Elisabeth is also a dedicated teacher and mentor. In 2010, she was awarded the Avery Fisher Career Grant, which recognizes outstanding young musicians who show great potential for a major career in music.
