The Rogeri Trio was formed in 2002 and takes its name from the instruments played by Pine and Bäverstam: a 1742 Guarneri del Gesù violin and a 1673 Carlo Giuseppe Testore cello, both made in Cremona, Italy by members of the Rogeri family. The trio has been praised for their virtuosic playing and their ability to bring out the nuances of the music they perform. One of the highlights of the Rogeri Trio's career was their performance at the Ravinia Festival in 2003. The trio performed works by Beethoven, Brahms, and Mendelssohn to a sold-out audience and received a standing ovation. The Chicago Tribune praised the trio's "impeccable technique, musicality, and ensemble playing." In 2004, the Rogeri Trio released their debut album, "Trios by Tchaikovsky and Smetana," on the Cedille Records label. The album received critical acclaim and was named one of the top classical recordings of the year by the Chicago Tribune. The trio went on to release several more albums, including "Trios by Dvořák and Suk" and "Trios by Shostakovich and Babajanian." The Rogeri Trio has also been recognized for their educational outreach efforts. They have performed in schools and community centers around the world, introducing young people to the joys of classical music. In 2011, the trio was awarded the prestigious Guarneri Fellowship from the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, which recognizes outstanding chamber music ensembles and provides them with performance opportunities and educational outreach programs.
