Oliver Brault is a renowned classical music artist who has made a significant impact in the world of music. Born in Montreal, Canada, in 1982, Brault showed an early interest in music and began playing the violin at the age of four. His parents, both musicians, recognized his talent and encouraged him to pursue a career in music. Brault's early years were spent studying under some of the best violin teachers in Canada. He attended the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal, where he studied with Jean-François Rivest and Vladimir Landsman. He also studied with Mauricio Fuks at Indiana University, where he earned his Bachelor of Music degree. Brault's talent and dedication to his craft were evident from an early age. He won his first competition at the age of six and went on to win numerous awards and accolades throughout his career. In 2001, he won the prestigious Prix d'Europe, which allowed him to study in Europe for a year. He also won the Indiana University Concerto Competition in 2004, which led to his debut performance with the Indiana University Symphony Orchestra. Brault's career took off after he won the Montreal Symphony Orchestra Standard Life Competition in 2005. This competition is one of the most prestigious in Canada and is open to musicians under the age of 30. Brault's performance was so impressive that he was immediately offered a position as a first violinist with the Montreal Symphony Orchestra. Brault's time with the Montreal Symphony Orchestra was a highlight of his career. He played with the orchestra for six years and was featured as a soloist on several occasions. He also performed with other orchestras, including the Toronto Symphony Orchestra and the National Arts Centre Orchestra. In addition to his work with orchestras, Brault is also an accomplished chamber musician. He has performed with some of the best chamber groups in the world, including the St. Lawrence String Quartet and the Gryphon Trio. He has also collaborated with many other musicians, including pianist Angela Hewitt and cellist Stéphane Tétreault. Brault's talent and dedication to his craft have earned him numerous awards and accolades throughout his career. In addition to the Prix d'Europe and the Montreal Symphony Orchestra Standard Life Competition, he has won the Canada Council for the Arts Musical Instrument Bank Competition and the Sylva Gelber Music Foundation Award. He has also been a finalist in the Michael Hill International Violin Competition and the Montreal International Musical Competition.
