Gwendolyn Mok is a renowned classical pianist and educator who has made a significant impact on the world of music. Born in Hong Kong, Mok began playing the piano at the age of four and quickly showed a natural talent for the instrument. Her family recognized her potential and encouraged her to pursue a career in music. Mok's early musical education was in Hong Kong, where she studied with renowned pianist Eleanor Wong. She then moved to the United States to continue her studies at the Juilliard School in New York City. There, she studied with pianist and pedagogue Adele Marcus, who had a profound influence on Mok's musical development. After completing her studies at Juilliard, Mok embarked on a successful career as a concert pianist. She has performed with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the San Francisco Symphony, the Hong Kong Philharmonic, and the Moscow Symphony Orchestra. She has also given recitals in major concert halls around the world, including Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and the Royal Festival Hall in London. Mok's repertoire is wide-ranging and includes works by classical composers such as Beethoven, Mozart, and Chopin, as well as contemporary composers such as John Adams and Philip Glass. She is currently a professor of piano at the Schulich School of Music at McGill University in Montreal, Canada.
