Marie Laforge was born on May 12, 1985, in Paris, France. She grew up in a family of musicians, with her mother being a pianist and her father a cellist. From a young age, Marie showed a natural talent for music and began playing the violin at the age of four. Marie's parents recognized her talent and encouraged her to pursue a career in music. She began taking lessons with renowned violinists in Paris and quickly gained recognition for her exceptional skills. At the age of 12, Marie won first prize in the prestigious Concours National des Jeunes Violonistes, a national competition for young violinists in France. Marie continued to excel in her studies and was accepted into the Conservatoire de Paris at the age of 16. She studied under the guidance of some of the most renowned violinists in the world, including Maxim Vengerov and Itzhak Perlman. During her time at the conservatory, Marie won several awards and competitions, including the Prix du Conservatoire and the International Violin Competition of Indianapolis. After graduating from the conservatory, Marie began performing professionally and quickly gained a reputation as one of the most talented violinists of her generation. She has performed with some of the world's most prestigious orchestras, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the New York Philharmonic, and the London Symphony Orchestra. One of Marie's most memorable performances was at the 2012 Proms in London, where she performed Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto with the BBC Symphony Orchestra. Her performance was met with critical acclaim, with The Guardian describing it as "a stunning display of virtuosity and musicality." Marie has also been recognized for her contributions to classical music. In 2015, she was awarded the Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French government for her outstanding achievements in the arts. She has also been a strong advocate for music education and has worked with several organizations to promote music education in schools. In addition to her performances and advocacy work, Marie has also recorded several albums. Her debut album, released in 2010, featured works by Bach, Beethoven, and Brahms.
