Born in South Africa in 1960, Schoeman began his musical journey at a young age. He started playing the violin when he was just six years old and showed a natural talent for the instrument. His parents recognized his potential and encouraged him to pursue a career in music. Schoeman's early training was under the guidance of his mother, who was a violin teacher. He later studied at the University of Cape Town, where he received a Bachelor of Music degree. He then went on to study at the Royal College of Music in London, where he received a Postgraduate Diploma in Advanced Performance. Schoeman's talent and dedication to music soon caught the attention of the music world. He was appointed as the leader of the London Philharmonic Orchestra in 2008, a position he still holds today. One of Schoeman's most notable performances was at the 2012 London Olympics opening ceremony. He led the London Philharmonic Orchestra in a rendition of "Chariots of Fire," which was one of the highlights of the ceremony.
