Eckart Preu is a renowned classical music conductor who has made a significant impact on the world of classical music. Born in Germany in 1969, Preu grew up in a family of musicians and was exposed to classical music from a young age. His father was a conductor, and his mother was a pianist, so it was only natural that Preu would follow in their footsteps. Preu began his musical education at the age of six, studying piano and violin. He later attended the Hochschule für Musik in Berlin, where he studied conducting under the tutelage of Professor Hans-Martin Rabenstein. After completing his studies, Preu began his career as a conductor, working with various orchestras in Germany and Europe. In 1996, Preu moved to the United States to further his career. He was appointed as the Assistant Conductor of the Richmond Symphony Orchestra in Virginia, where he worked under the guidance of Maestro George Manahan. Preu quickly made a name for himself in the United States, and in 2003, he was appointed as the Music Director of the Spokane Symphony Orchestra in Washington. During his tenure with the Spokane Symphony Orchestra, Preu led the orchestra to new heights of excellence. He introduced innovative programming and collaborated with renowned soloists and composers. Under his leadership, the orchestra received critical acclaim for its performances and recordings. Preu's success with the Spokane Symphony Orchestra led to numerous guest conducting engagements with other orchestras in the United States and Europe. He has conducted the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, the Houston Symphony Orchestra, the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, the National Symphony Orchestra, and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, among others. In addition to his work as a conductor, Preu is also an accomplished pianist and composer. He has composed several works for orchestra, including a symphony and a piano concerto. His compositions have been performed by orchestras in the United States and Europe. Preu has received numerous awards and accolades for his contributions to classical music. In 2004, he was awarded the Outstanding Artist Award by the Washington State Arts Commission. In 2007, he was named the Washington State Music Educators Association's Outstanding Music Educator of the Year. In 2010, he was awarded the Mayor's Arts Award for his contributions to the arts in Spokane. Preu's passion for classical music and his dedication to excellence have made him one of the most respected conductors in the world. His innovative programming and collaborations with soloists and composers have brought new audiences to classical music and inspired a new generation of musicians.
