Alex Iles is a renowned classical music artist who has made a significant contribution to the world of music. He was born on September 3, 1961, in Los Angeles, California, and grew up in a family of musicians. His father, Ray Iles, was a jazz trombonist, and his mother, Betty Iles, was a pianist. Alex was exposed to music from a young age and started playing the trombone when he was just nine years old. Alex attended the University of Southern California (USC) and studied under the tutelage of Ralph Sauer, a renowned trombonist. He graduated from USC in 1983 with a Bachelor of Music degree. He played with the orchestra for six years and then moved to the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra in 1990. Alex has also performed with other orchestras and ensembles, including the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, and the Los Angeles Opera. He has also played on numerous movie soundtracks, including "Jurassic Park," "The Lion King," and "The Incredibles." Alex has received numerous awards and accolades for his contributions to the world of music. In 1991, he won the International Trombone Association's Frank Smith Solo Competition. He was also a finalist in the 1992 Ellsworth Smith International Trombone Competition. In 2007, he was awarded the Outstanding Brass Player Award by the International Society of Bassists. Alex is also a respected educator and has taught at various institutions, including USC, the Colburn School, and the California Institute of the Arts.
