David Haas is a renowned composer of liturgical music, known for his contributions to the Catholic Church and the wider Christian community. He attended the University of Michigan, where he studied music composition and theory, and later earned a master's degree in pastoral studies from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota. Haas began his career as a music director at a Catholic parish in Minneapolis, where he developed a passion for composing music for worship. He soon became a sought-after composer and performer, traveling across the United States and internationally to lead workshops and concerts. In 1985, he founded his own music publishing company, GIA Publications, which has since become one of the leading publishers of liturgical music in the world. Haas's music is characterized by its simplicity, accessibility, and singability.
