Role:EnsembleGli Scarlattisti is a classical music ensemble that specializes in the performance of Baroque music. The group was founded in 2011 by Jeroen Felix, a Dutch conductor and harpsichordist. The ensemble takes its name from the Scarlatti family, which produced several prominent Baroque composers, including Alessandro and Domenico Scarlatti. Jeroen Felix was born in 1977 in the Netherlands. He began his musical studies at a young age, learning to play the piano and the harpsichord. He later studied musicology at the University of Utrecht and conducting at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague. Felix has worked with several prominent Baroque ensembles, including the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra and the Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century. Gli Scarlattisti made their debut performance in 2011 at the Utrecht Early Music Festival. The ensemble quickly gained a reputation for their dynamic and engaging performances of Baroque music. They have since performed at several major music festivals, including the Festival Oude Muziek in Utrecht, the Bach Festival in Dordrecht, and the Festival de Musique Baroque de Pontoise in France. One of the highlights of Gli Scarlattisti's career was their performance at the 2014 Festival Oude Muziek in Utrecht. The ensemble performed a program of music by the Italian composer Giovanni Battista Pergolesi, including his Stabat Mater and Salve Regina. The performance was widely praised for its emotional depth and technical precision. In addition to their live performances, Gli Scarlattisti has also released several recordings. Their debut album, "Alessandro Scarlatti: La Gloria di Primavera," was released in 2013 and features music by Alessandro Scarlatti, one of the most prominent composers of the Baroque era. The album was well-received by critics and helped to establish Gli Scarlattisti as one of the leading Baroque ensembles in Europe. Gli Scarlattisti has received several awards and accolades for their work. In 2015, the ensemble was awarded the prestigious ECHO Klassik award for their recording of Pergolesi's Stabat Mater. The ECHO Klassik is one of the most prestigious awards in classical music and is awarded annually by the German Phono Academy to honor outstanding recordings in the classical music genre. In addition to their performances and recordings, Gli Scarlattisti is also committed to education and outreach. The ensemble regularly conducts workshops and masterclasses for young musicians, helping to inspire the next generation of Baroque performers. They have also collaborated with several prominent music schools and conservatories, including the Royal Conservatory in The Hague and the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis in Switzerland. Overall, Gli Scarlattisti is a dynamic and engaging ensemble that has made a significant contribution to the world of Baroque music. Their performances are characterized by their emotional depth, technical precision, and commitment to historical authenticity. With their passion for music and dedication to education, Gli Scarlattisti is sure to continue making an impact on the classical music world for years to come.More....
