He received formal training in music theory, composition, and piano from the Vienna Conservatory of Music. He also studied under the tutelage of renowned pianists such as Friedrich Gulda and Martha Argerich. Müller's talent and dedication to music were evident from an early age. He won his first piano competition at the age of twelve and went on to win several other competitions throughout his career. In 1968, he won the prestigious International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw, Poland, which catapulted him to international fame. Müller's career as a concert pianist took off after his win at the Chopin Competition. He performed extensively throughout Europe, Asia, and the United States, captivating audiences with his virtuosity and musicality. He was particularly renowned for his interpretations of the works of Chopin, Mozart, and Beethoven.
