Sfera Armoniosa is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2012 by a group of talented musicians who shared a passion for Baroque music. The ensemble is based in Italy and is known for its unique and innovative approach to performing early music. The founding members of Sfera Armoniosa were violinist and artistic director Federico Guglielmo, cellist and viola da gamba player Gaetano Nasillo, and harpsichordist and organist Andrea Buccarella. All three musicians had extensive experience performing Baroque music and had collaborated with each other on various projects before forming the ensemble. Sfera Armoniosa quickly gained a reputation for its dynamic and engaging performances, which combined historical accuracy with a modern sensibility. The ensemble's repertoire includes works by some of the greatest composers of the Baroque era, including Bach, Handel, Vivaldi, and Corelli. One of the highlights of Sfera Armoniosa's early career was its performance at the prestigious Festival Oude Muziek in Utrecht, Netherlands, in 2013. The ensemble has also collaborated with some of the most renowned early music specialists in the world, including countertenor Andreas Scholl and soprano Roberta Invernizzi. In addition to its live performances, Sfera Armoniosa has also released several critically acclaimed recordings. The ensemble's debut album, "Vivaldi: La Stravaganza," was released in 2014 and received widespread praise for its virtuosic performances and innovative interpretations of Vivaldi's music. The group's subsequent recordings, including "Corelli: La Follia" and "Handel: Il Trionfo del Tempo e del Disinganno," have also been well-received by critics and audiences alike. Sfera Armoniosa has been the recipient of several awards and honors throughout its career. In 2015, the ensemble was awarded the prestigious Premio Abbiati, which is considered one of the highest honors in the Italian classical music world. The award recognized Sfera Armoniosa's outstanding contributions to the early music scene and its commitment to bringing new life to Baroque music.
