Jan Dusek was born on May 15, 1985, in Prague, Czech Republic. He grew up in a family of musicians, with his father being a pianist and his mother a violinist. From a young age, Dusek showed a natural talent for music and began playing the piano at the age of four. Dusek's parents recognized his potential and enrolled him in the Prague Conservatory at the age of ten. He studied under the guidance of renowned pianist and pedagogue Ivan Klansky, who recognized Dusek's exceptional talent and encouraged him to pursue a career in music. Dusek continued his studies at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, where he received his master's degree in piano performance. During his time at the academy, Dusek won several awards and competitions, including the Beethoven Piano Competition in Prague and the International Piano Competition in San Marino. After completing his studies, Dusek began performing extensively throughout Europe and Asia. He quickly gained a reputation as a virtuoso pianist, known for his technical precision and emotional depth. Dusek's performances were praised for their clarity, sensitivity, and musicality. One of Dusek's most notable performances was at the Prague Spring International Music Festival in 2009. He performed Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5, also known as the "Emperor" concerto, with the Prague Symphony Orchestra. The performance was met with critical acclaim, and Dusek was praised for his interpretation of the piece. In 2011, Dusek was invited to perform at the Chopin and His Europe International Music Festival in Warsaw, Poland. He performed Chopin's Piano Concerto No. 2 with the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra, receiving a standing ovation from the audience. Dusek has also collaborated with several renowned musicians, including violinist Jan Mracek and cellist Jan Vogler. In 2015, he performed with Vogler at the Dresden Music Festival, where they played Beethoven's Triple Concerto with the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra. In addition to his performances, Dusek is also a dedicated teacher. He has taught masterclasses at several universities and conservatories, including the Royal Academy of Music in London and the Shanghai Conservatory of Music. Dusek has received numerous awards and accolades throughout his career. In 2012, he was awarded the prestigious Thalia Award, which recognizes outstanding achievement in the arts in the Czech Republic. He has also been named a Steinway Artist, an honor reserved for the world's most accomplished pianists. Despite his success, Dusek remains humble and dedicated to his craft. He continues to perform and teach, always striving to improve and inspire others with his music.
