Jan Skrdlik was born on May 12, 1985, in Prague, Czech Republic. He grew up in a family of musicians, with his father being a renowned pianist and his mother a violinist. From a young age, Skrdlik showed a keen interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of four. Skrdlik's talent was quickly recognized, and he began receiving formal training at the Prague Conservatory at the age of eight. He continued his studies at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, where he received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in piano performance. Throughout his career, Skrdlik has won numerous awards and accolades for his performances. In 2005, he won first prize at the International Piano Competition in Brno, Czech Republic. He also won first prize at the International Piano Competition in Vienna, Austria, in 2007. Skrdlik has performed extensively throughout Europe, Asia, and North America. He has appeared as a soloist with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the New York Philharmonic, and the London Symphony Orchestra. One of Skrdlik's most memorable performances was his debut at Carnegie Hall in New York City in 2010. He performed a program of works by Beethoven, Chopin, and Liszt to critical acclaim. The New York Times praised his "virtuosic technique and sensitive musicality." Skrdlik is also an avid chamber musician and has collaborated with many of the world's leading instrumentalists and vocalists. He has performed with violinist Joshua Bell, cellist Yo-Yo Ma, and soprano Renée Fleming, among others. In addition to his performing career, Skrdlik is also a dedicated teacher. He has taught masterclasses at many of the world's leading music schools, including the Juilliard School in New York City and the Royal Academy of Music in London.
