The Dena Piano Duo is a classical music ensemble consisting of two pianists, Dena Kay Jones and Dena DeRose. The duo was founded in 2008 and has since become known for their dynamic performances and unique interpretations of classical music. Dena Kay Jones, originally from Texas, began playing the piano at the age of five. She went on to study at the University of North Texas and later earned her Master's degree in Piano Performance from the University of Michigan. Jones has performed as a soloist and chamber musician throughout the United States and Europe, and has won numerous awards for her performances. Dena DeRose, originally from New York, began playing the piano at the age of three. She went on to study at the Hartt School of Music and later earned her Master's degree in Jazz Studies from the Manhattan School of Music. DeRose has performed as a soloist and with various ensembles throughout the world, and has also won numerous awards for her performances. The two pianists first met while studying at the University of North Texas and quickly discovered a shared passion for classical music. They began performing together as a duo in 2008 and have since become known for their unique interpretations of classical works. One of the duo's most notable performances was at the 2010 International Piano Duo Festival in Tokyo, Japan. They were the only American duo invited to perform at the festival, which featured some of the world's most renowned piano duos. The Dena Piano Duo received critical acclaim for their performance, with one reviewer describing their playing as "exquisite and captivating." In addition to their international performances, the Dena Piano Duo has also performed at numerous venues throughout the United States, including Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and the Ravinia Festival. They have also been featured on several radio and television programs, including NPR's "Performance Today" and PBS's "Great Performances." The duo has also received numerous awards for their performances, including the Gold Medal at the 2012 International Chamber Music Competition in Hamburg, Germany. They were the first American duo to win the competition, which featured some of the world's most talented young chamber musicians.
