I Musicali Affetti is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 1992 in Italy. The ensemble is known for its exceptional performances of Baroque and Classical music, and has gained a reputation for its innovative interpretations of these genres. The founding members of I Musicali Affetti were a group of young musicians who were passionate about early music. They were inspired by the works of composers such as Bach, Handel, and Vivaldi, and were determined to bring their music to a wider audience. The ensemble was initially formed as a chamber group, with a core group of musicians playing period instruments such as the harpsichord, violin, cello, and flute. Over the years, I Musicali Affetti has grown in size and scope, and now includes a full orchestra as well as a choir. The ensemble has also expanded its repertoire to include music from the Romantic and Modern periods, as well as contemporary works. One of the main members of I Musicali Affetti is its founder and artistic director, Fabio Biondi. Biondi is a renowned violinist and conductor who has performed with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the Berlin Philharmonic and the New York Philharmonic. He is also a respected scholar of Baroque music, and has written extensively on the subject. Other key members of the ensemble include cellist Gaetano Nasillo, flutist Marcello Gatti, and harpsichordist Ottavio Dantone. These musicians are all highly skilled performers who bring a wealth of experience and expertise to the ensemble. I Musicali Affetti has performed at some of the world's most prestigious concert halls and festivals, including the Salzburg Festival, the Edinburgh International Festival, and the BBC Proms. The ensemble has also collaborated with some of the world's leading soloists, including mezzo-soprano Cecilia Bartoli and pianist Martha Argerich. One of the highlights of I Musicali Affetti's career was its performance of Handel's Messiah at the Salzburg Festival in 2009. The ensemble received critical acclaim for its interpretation of the work, with reviewers praising the ensemble's "crisp and lively playing" and "sensitive and nuanced singing." I Musicali Affetti has also been the recipient of numerous awards and accolades over the years. In 2001, the ensemble was awarded the prestigious Diapason d'Or for its recording of Vivaldi's Four Seasons. The ensemble has also been nominated for several Grammy Awards, including Best Classical Album and Best Choral Performance. In addition to its performances and recordings, I Musicali Affetti is also committed to music education and outreach. The ensemble regularly conducts workshops and masterclasses for young musicians, and has established a scholarship program to support talented students who are pursuing careers in music. Overall, I Musicali Affetti is a world-class ensemble that has made a significant contribution to the world of classical music. With its exceptional musicianship, innovative programming, and commitment to education and outreach, the ensemble is sure to continue to inspire and delight audiences for many years to come.More....
