Duo Cordes et Âmes is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2012 by two talented musicians, violinist Marie-Ève Poupart and guitarist Sébastien Dufour. Marie-Ève Poupart, the violinist of the duo, was born in Quebec City and began playing the violin at the age of four. She went on to study at the Conservatoire de musique de Québec and later at the Université de Montréal, where she earned a degree in violin performance. Sébastien Dufour, the guitarist of the duo, was born in Quebec and began playing the guitar at the age of nine. He went on to study at the Conservatoire de musique de Québec and later at the Université de Montréal, where he earned a degree in guitar performance. The two musicians first met while studying at the Université de Montréal and quickly discovered a shared passion for classical music. They began performing together as a duo and soon realized that their unique combination of instruments created a sound that was both beautiful and captivating. In 2012, they officially formed Duo Cordes et Âmes and began performing together professionally. Since their founding, Duo Cordes et Âmes has become known for their exceptional performances and their ability to connect with audiences on a deep emotional level. They have performed at some of the most prestigious venues in Canada, including the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, the National Arts Centre in Ottawa, and the Quebec City Summer Festival. They have also performed internationally, including in France, Italy, and the United States. One of the highlights of Duo Cordes et Âmes' career was their performance at the 2015 Montreal International Guitar Festival, where they were awarded the first prize in the chamber music category.
