Duo Turgeon is a classical music ensemble consisting of pianists Anne Louise-Turgeon and Edward Turgeon. The duo was founded in 1994 and has since become one of the most renowned piano duos in the world. Anne Louise-Turgeon and Edward Turgeon met while studying at the Juilliard School in New York City. They quickly discovered a shared passion for piano duet repertoire and began performing together as a duo. In 1994, they officially formed Duo Turgeon and began touring extensively throughout North America and Europe. The duo has performed at some of the world's most prestigious concert halls, including Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and the Berlin Philharmonic. They have also been featured on numerous radio and television broadcasts, including CBC Radio and NPR. Duo Turgeon's repertoire spans a wide range of styles and periods, from Baroque to contemporary music. They are particularly known for their interpretations of works by Franz Schubert, Maurice Ravel, and Sergei Rachmaninoff. In addition to their performances as a duo, Anne Louise-Turgeon and Edward Turgeon are both accomplished soloists. They have each won numerous awards and competitions, including the Montreal Symphony Orchestra Competition and the International Stepping Stone Competition. Duo Turgeon has also been recognized with several awards and honors. In 2004, they were awarded the prestigious Virginia Parker Prize by the Canada Council for the Arts. This award is given annually to a Canadian musician who has demonstrated outstanding talent and achievement in classical music. In 2010, Duo Turgeon released their critically acclaimed album, "Duo Turgeon Plays Schubert." The album features their interpretations of Schubert's Sonata in B-flat Major and Fantasie in F Minor, among other works. The album was praised for its "impeccable technique" and "deep musicality." Duo Turgeon has also been active in promoting new music for piano duet. They have commissioned and premiered works by several contemporary composers, including John Burge and Michael Pepa. In addition to their performing and recording careers, Anne Louise-Turgeon and Edward Turgeon are both dedicated educators. They have taught at several universities and conservatories, including the University of British Columbia and the University of Western Ontario.
