Ensemble Più is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2012 by a group of talented musicians who shared a passion for chamber music. The ensemble is based in New York City and is known for its innovative programming, which combines classical repertoire with contemporary works. The founding members of Ensemble Più were pianist Eunbi Kim, violinist Yibin Li, cellist Jia Kim, and clarinetist Vasko Dukovski. All four musicians had extensive experience performing in various orchestras and chamber ensembles before coming together to form Ensemble Più. The ensemble's name, which means "more" in Italian, reflects its commitment to exploring new musical horizons and pushing the boundaries of classical music. From the beginning, Ensemble Più has been dedicated to performing works by living composers and commissioning new pieces. One of the highlights of Ensemble Più's early career was its debut performance at Carnegie Hall's Weill Recital Hall in 2013. The program featured works by Mozart, Brahms, and Schumann, as well as a world premiere of a piece by composer and Ensemble Più member Vasko Dukovski. Since then, Ensemble Più has performed at numerous prestigious venues and festivals, including Lincoln Center, the Kennedy Center, and the Bang on a Can Marathon. The ensemble has also collaborated with a wide range of artists, including dancers, visual artists, and poets. In addition to its live performances, Ensemble Più has released several critically acclaimed recordings. The ensemble's debut album, "More," features works by Mozart, Brahms, and Dukovski, while its second album, "Beyond," includes pieces by contemporary composers such as John Adams and Steve Reich. Ensemble Più has received numerous awards and accolades for its innovative programming and outstanding performances. In 2015, the ensemble was awarded the Chamber Music America/ASCAP Award for Adventurous Programming, which recognizes ensembles that take risks and explore new musical territory. In 2017, Ensemble Più was selected as one of the winners of the New Music USA Project Grant, which provided funding for the ensemble to commission and perform new works by emerging composers. The ensemble has also been featured in publications such as The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and Time Out New York. Today, Ensemble Più continues to push the boundaries of classical music and inspire audiences with its innovative programming and virtuosic performances. The ensemble's current members include pianist Eunbi Kim, violinist Yibin Li, cellist Jia Kim, clarinetist Vasko Dukovski, and flutist Laura Falzon. Together, they are committed to exploring new musical horizons and bringing the beauty and power of classical music to audiences around the world.
