Permonik Children's Chorus is a classical music ensemble that has been captivating audiences with their angelic voices since their founding in 1979. The ensemble is based in the Czech Republic and is made up of children between the ages of 7 and 18. The founding of Permonik Children's Chorus can be traced back to the vision of its founder, Jana Váňová. Váňová was a music teacher who had a passion for choral music and wanted to create a children's choir that would showcase the beauty of the human voice. She started the choir with just a handful of students, but it quickly grew in popularity and size. Today, the ensemble has over 100 members and is recognized as one of the premier children's choirs in the world. The choir has performed in some of the most prestigious venues in Europe, including the Royal Albert Hall in London, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the Vienna State Opera. The main members of the ensemble are the children themselves, who come from all over the Czech Republic to participate in the choir. The choir is divided into several groups based on age and skill level, with the youngest members starting in the preparatory group and working their way up to the advanced group. The choir has also won several awards and accolades over the years. In 1998, they won first prize at the International Children's Choir Festival in Olomouc, Czech Republic. They have also won awards at the International Choral Festival in Budapest, Hungary, and the International Children's Choir Festival in Neerpelt, Belgium. In addition to their performances, the choir is also involved in several charitable activities. They have raised money for organizations such as UNICEF and the Czech Red Cross, and have performed benefit concerts for children's hospitals and orphanages.
