He began playing the violin at the age of four and went on to study at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris. Marillier has won numerous awards, including the Grand Prize at the 2012 International Competition of Young Musicians in Prague. He has performed as a soloist with orchestras such as the Orchestre National de France and the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra. Clément Lefebvre, the cellist of the group, was born in 1993 in Lille, France. He began playing the cello at the age of six and went on to study at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris. Lefebvre has won several awards, including the First Prize at the 2015 International Johannes Brahms Competition in Austria. He has performed as a soloist with orchestras such as the Orchestre National de Lille and the Orchestre de Chambre de Paris. Johan Farjot, the pianist of the group, was born in 1974 in Paris. He began playing the piano at the age of six and went on to study at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris. Farjot has won several awards, including the First Prize at the 1996 International Piano Competition in Senigallia, Italy. He has performed as a soloist with orchestras such as the Orchestre National de France and the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France. The three musicians first met while studying at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris. They quickly discovered a shared passion for chamber music and decided to form Trio Talweg. The ensemble takes its name from the French word "talweg," which refers to the line of lowest elevation in a valley. Since its founding, Trio Talweg has performed at numerous prestigious venues and festivals around the world. In 2016, the trio made their debut at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris, one of the most renowned concert halls in the world. They have also performed at the Festival de La Roque d'Anthéron, the Festival de Radio France et Montpellier, and the Festival de Musique de Menton. In addition to their performances, Trio Talweg has also received critical acclaim for their recordings. Their debut album, released in 2018, features works by Beethoven, Brahms, and Ravel. The album was praised for its "impeccable technique" and "sensitive interpretation" by critics. Trio Talweg has also been recognized with several awards and honors. In 2017, the trio was awarded the Prix de la Révélation Musicale by the French Association of Music Critics. The award recognizes young musicians who have made a significant impact in the classical music world. In 2018, Trio Talweg was named a laureate of the Banque Populaire Foundation, which provides financial support to young artists. Despite their relatively short time together as an ensemble, Trio Talweg has already established themselves as one of the most exciting and dynamic chamber music groups in the world. With their unique sound and passionate performances, they are sure to continue to captivate audiences for years to come.
