Louise Lessard was born on May 12, 1975, in Montreal, Canada. She grew up in a family of musicians, with her mother being a pianist and her father a violinist. From a young age, Lessard showed a natural talent for music and began taking piano lessons at the age of five. Lessard's passion for music continued to grow throughout her childhood, and she began to explore other instruments, including the violin and cello. By the time she was a teenager, Lessard had developed a deep love for classical music and decided to pursue a career as a professional musician. After completing her undergraduate studies in music at McGill University in Montreal, Lessard went on to earn a master's degree in piano performance from the Juilliard School in New York City. During her time at Juilliard, Lessard had the opportunity to study with some of the world's most renowned pianists, including Emanuel Ax and Yoheved Kaplinsky. Lessard's talent and dedication to her craft quickly began to pay off, and she soon began to receive recognition for her performances. In 1998, she won first prize in the Montreal Symphony Orchestra Competition, and in 2001, she was awarded the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant. Over the years, Lessard has performed with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and the London Symphony Orchestra. She has also collaborated with many of the world's most celebrated conductors, including Leonard Bernstein, Sir Simon Rattle, and Daniel Barenboim. One of Lessard's most memorable performances came in 2003, when she was invited to perform at the White House for President George W. Bush and First Lady Laura Bush. Lessard played a selection of classical pieces, including works by Bach, Beethoven, and Chopin, to a standing ovation from the audience. In addition to her work as a performer, Lessard is also a dedicated teacher and mentor to young musicians. She has taught at several prestigious music schools, including the Juilliard School and the Curtis Institute of Music, and has served as a guest lecturer and masterclass instructor at universities and conservatories around the world.
