Sofia de Salis was born on May 12, 1990, in Zurich, Switzerland. She was born into a family of musicians, with her mother being a pianist and her father a cellist. From a young age, Sofia was exposed to classical music and began playing the violin at the age of four. Sofia's talent was evident from a young age, and she quickly became a prodigy in the classical music world. She began performing in public at the age of six and was soon invited to perform with orchestras across Europe. At the age of ten, Sofia won first prize in the prestigious Menuhin Competition, which is considered one of the most prestigious competitions for young violinists. This win catapulted her career and led to numerous invitations to perform with major orchestras around the world. In 2008, she won the International Violin Competition in Indianapolis, and in 2010, she won the International Violin Competition in Montreal.
