Sofia de Salis was born on May 12, 1990, in Zurich, Switzerland. She was born into a family of musicians, with her mother being a pianist and her father a cellist. From a young age, Sofia was exposed to classical music and began playing the violin at the age of four. Sofia's talent was evident from a young age, and she quickly became a prodigy in the classical music world. She began performing in public at the age of six and was soon invited to perform with orchestras across Europe. At the age of ten, Sofia won first prize in the prestigious Menuhin Competition, which is considered one of the most prestigious competitions for young violinists. This win catapulted her career and led to numerous invitations to perform with major orchestras around the world. Sofia's career continued to flourish, and she went on to win numerous other awards and accolades. In 2008, she won the International Violin Competition in Indianapolis, and in 2010, she won the International Violin Competition in Montreal. Sofia's performances have been praised for their technical brilliance and emotional depth. She has performed with some of the world's most renowned orchestras, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the New York Philharmonic, and the London Symphony Orchestra. One of Sofia's most memorable performances was her debut at Carnegie Hall in 2012. She performed the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto with the New York Philharmonic, and the performance was met with a standing ovation and rave reviews. Sofia is also known for her dedication to contemporary music. She has premiered numerous works by contemporary composers and has collaborated with some of the most innovative and exciting composers of our time. In addition to her performing career, Sofia is also a dedicated teacher. She has taught masterclasses around the world and is a faculty member at the Juilliard School in New York City. Sofia's talent and dedication to her craft have made her one of the most respected and admired violinists of her generation.
