After completing his studies, Bengt began his career as a concert pianist, performing in various concerts and recitals across Europe. His exceptional talent and passion for music soon caught the attention of music critics and audiences alike, and he quickly gained a reputation as one of the most talented pianists of his generation. Bengt's breakthrough performance came in 1980 when he won the prestigious Leeds International Piano Competition. The competition, which is held every three years, attracts some of the world's most talented pianists, and winning it is considered a significant achievement in the world of classical music. Bengt's performance was widely praised by the judges and the audience, and he was awarded the first prize, which included a cash prize and a recording contract with CBS Records.
