He grew up in a family of musicians, with his father being a renowned pianist and his mother a violinist. From a young age, Hrncir showed a keen interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of four. Hrncir's talent was quickly recognized, and he began performing in public at the age of six. He won his first competition at the age of eight and went on to win numerous awards and accolades throughout his career. In 1996, Hrncir was accepted into the Prague Conservatory, where he studied under the tutelage of renowned pianist Ivan Moravec. He graduated with honors in 2004 and went on to study at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. Hrncir's career took off in 2005 when he won the prestigious Prague Spring International Music Competition. This win catapulted him onto the international stage, and he began performing in major concert halls around the world. Over the years, Hrncir has performed with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra, and the New York Philharmonic. He has also collaborated with many renowned conductors, including Sir Simon Rattle, Daniel Barenboim, and Valery Gergiev. One of Hrncir's most memorable performances was his debut at Carnegie Hall in 2008. He received a standing ovation for his performance of Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5, and the New York Times praised his "virtuosic technique and sensitive musicality." Hrncir has also been recognized for his recordings, which have received critical acclaim. His recording of Chopin's complete Nocturnes was named "Recording of the Month" by Gramophone magazine, and his recording of Beethoven's Piano Sonatas was praised by The Guardian as "a benchmark recording." In addition to his performing career, Hrncir is also a dedicated teacher. He has taught masterclasses at many prestigious institutions, including the Juilliard School, the Royal Academy of Music in London, and the Conservatoire de Paris.
