Role:PerformerSharon Azrieli is a Canadian classical music artist who has made a name for herself as a soprano singer, philanthropist, and businesswoman. Born in Montreal, Quebec, in 1973, Azrieli grew up in a family that valued education and the arts. Her father, David Azrieli, was a prominent real estate developer and philanthropist, while her mother, Stephanie, was a pianist and music teacher. From a young age, Azrieli showed a talent for singing and performing. She began taking voice lessons at the age of 12 and went on to study at McGill University's Schulich School of Music, where she earned a Bachelor of Music degree in vocal performance. She later pursued further studies at the Manhattan School of Music in New York City, where she earned a Master of Music degree in opera performance. Azrieli's career as a professional singer began in the late 1990s, when she began performing in operas and concerts in Canada and the United States. She quickly gained a reputation as a talented soprano with a powerful voice and a commanding stage presence. Some of her early highlights include performances with the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, and the New York City Opera. In 2003, Azrieli founded the Azrieli Foundation, a philanthropic organization that supports education, scientific research, and the arts. The foundation has since become one of the largest private foundations in Canada, with a focus on supporting innovative and impactful projects in a variety of fields. Despite her busy schedule as a singer and philanthropist, Azrieli has continued to perform regularly in concerts and operas around the world. Some of her most notable performances include a concert at Carnegie Hall in New York City in 2010, a performance of Verdi's Requiem with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra in Tel Aviv in 2013, and a concert at the Vatican in Rome in 2016. In addition to her work as a singer and philanthropist, Azrieli is also a successful businesswoman. She is the CEO of the Azrieli Group, a real estate development company that was founded by her father. Under her leadership, the company has continued to grow and expand, with a focus on sustainable and socially responsible development. Throughout her career, Azrieli has received numerous awards and honors for her contributions to the arts and philanthropy. In 2014, she was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal for her work in promoting the arts and culture in Canada. She has also been recognized by the Canadian Jewish News as one of the most influential Jewish Canadians, and by the Montreal Gazette as one of the city's most influential people. Despite her many accomplishments, Azrieli remains humble and dedicated to her work. She continues to perform and support the arts, while also working to make a positive impact in the world through her philanthropic efforts. With her talent, passion, and commitment, she is sure to continue making a difference for years to come.More....
