Aurora Duo is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2015 by two talented musicians, violinist Anastasia Christofakis and pianist Robin Giesbrecht. Anastasia Christofakis, a native of Greece, began playing the violin at the age of six. She received her Bachelor of Music degree from the Athens Conservatory and her Master of Music degree from the Manhattan School of Music. She has performed in numerous orchestras and chamber ensembles, including the New York Philharmonic and the Athens State Orchestra. Robin Giesbrecht, originally from Germany, started playing the piano at the age of six. He received his Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Music and Performing Arts in Munich and his Master of Music degree from the Manhattan School of Music. He has performed in prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall and the Berlin Philharmonic. The duo's name, Aurora, was inspired by the natural phenomenon of the Northern Lights, which they believe represents the beauty and power of music. Their repertoire includes works by classical composers such as Beethoven, Brahms, and Mozart, as well as contemporary composers like John Adams and Philip Glass. One of the highlights of Aurora Duo's career was their performance at the 2017 New York Chamber Music Festival, where they received critical acclaim for their interpretation of Beethoven's "Kreutzer" Sonata.
