Robert Strizich is a renowned classical music artist who has made significant contributions to the world of music. Born on August 22, 1946, in Seattle, Washington, Strizich grew up in a family that valued music and the arts. His father was a violinist, and his mother was a pianist, which exposed him to music at an early age. Strizich began his musical journey by learning the piano at the age of six. However, he soon discovered his love for the violin and started taking lessons at the age of eight. He showed exceptional talent and dedication to the instrument, and by the age of 12, he was already performing in public. In 1964, Strizich enrolled at the University of Washington, where he studied music under the tutelage of renowned violinist Emanuel Zetlin. He graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree in 1968 and went on to pursue a Master of Music degree at the University of Southern California. During his time at USC, Strizich had the opportunity to study with some of the most prominent violinists of the time, including Jascha Heifetz, Nathan Milstein, and Ruggiero Ricci. He also had the privilege of performing with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Zubin Mehta. After completing his studies, Strizich embarked on a successful career as a soloist, chamber musician, and teacher. He has performed in some of the most prestigious concert halls around the world, including Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and the Royal Albert Hall. One of the highlights of Strizich's career was his performance at the 1972 Tanglewood Music Festival, where he was awarded the prestigious Leonard Bernstein Fellowship. This award recognized his exceptional talent and potential as a musician and provided him with the opportunity to work with some of the most renowned conductors and musicians of the time. In addition to his solo performances, Strizich has also been an active chamber musician. He has collaborated with some of the most prominent musicians of the time, including pianist Emanuel Ax, cellist Yo-Yo Ma, and violinist Itzhak Perlman. Strizich has also been a dedicated teacher throughout his career. He has taught at some of the most prestigious music schools in the United States, including the Juilliard School, the New England Conservatory of Music, and the University of Washington. Many of his students have gone on to have successful careers as musicians and have won numerous awards and competitions. In recognition of his contributions to the world of music, Strizich has received numerous awards and honors throughout his career. In 1985, he was awarded the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant, which recognizes exceptional young musicians and provides them with financial support to further their careers. Strizich has also been recognized for his contributions to the field of music education. In 2001, he was awarded the Distinguished Teacher Award by the White House Commission on Presidential Scholars. This award recognized his exceptional dedication to teaching and his ability to inspire and motivate his students. In addition to his performances and teaching, Strizich has also been an active advocate for the arts. He has served on the boards of numerous arts organizations, including the Seattle Symphony Orchestra and the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center.
