Perry So is a renowned classical music conductor who has made a name for himself in the international music scene. Born in Hong Kong in 1982, So showed an early interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of four. He later took up the violin and studied at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. So's passion for music led him to pursue further studies in the United States, where he attended the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia. There, he studied conducting under the tutelage of renowned conductor Otto-Werner Mueller. So also had the opportunity to work with other notable conductors, including Simon Rattle and Michael Tilson Thomas. After completing his studies, So began his career as a conductor, making his debut with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra in 2006. He quickly gained recognition for his talent and was appointed as the orchestra's assistant conductor the following year. So's tenure with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra was marked by several notable performances, including a concert featuring the music of Chinese composer Tan Dun, which was broadcast live on television. In 2009, So was invited to conduct the Asian Youth Orchestra, a prestigious ensemble made up of young musicians from across Asia.
