Role:EnsembleSimilia is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2009 in Brazil. The group is composed of four members: Ana de Oliveira (violin), Elisa Fukuda (violin), Gabriel Marin (viola), and Rafael Cesario (cello). The ensemble's name, Similia, is derived from the Latin phrase "similia similibus curantur," which means "like cures like." This phrase is often used in homeopathy, a medical practice that the members of Similia are interested in. Similia's founding members, Ana de Oliveira and Elisa Fukuda, met while studying at the University of São Paulo. They were both studying violin and quickly became friends. They soon realized that they shared a passion for chamber music and decided to form an ensemble. They recruited Gabriel Marin and Rafael Cesario, who were also studying at the University of São Paulo, to join them. Similia's first major performance was in 2010 at the São Paulo Museum of Art. The ensemble performed works by Mozart, Beethoven, and Brahms. The performance was well-received, and Similia began to gain a following in Brazil. In 2011, Similia won first prize in the Chamber Music Competition at the University of São Paulo. This was a significant achievement for the ensemble, as the competition was highly competitive and featured many talented musicians. Similia continued to perform throughout Brazil, and in 2013, the ensemble was invited to perform at the Festival Internacional de Música de Londrina. This was Similia's first international performance, and it was a great success. The ensemble received rave reviews from the audience and critics alike. In 2014, Similia released their first album, "Similia." The album featured works by Mozart, Beethoven, and Brahms, as well as a piece by Brazilian composer Heitor Villa-Lobos. The album was well-received and helped to further establish Similia as one of Brazil's premier classical music ensembles. Similia continued to perform and record throughout Brazil, and in 2017, the ensemble was invited to perform at the Festival Internacional de Música de Santa Catarina. This was another significant achievement for the ensemble, as the festival is one of the most prestigious classical music festivals in Brazil. In addition to their performances, Similia is also committed to education and outreach. The ensemble regularly gives masterclasses and workshops for young musicians, and they have also performed in schools and community centers throughout Brazil. Similia's unique blend of classical music and homeopathy has made them a popular and respected ensemble in Brazil. The members of Similia are all highly skilled musicians, and their passion for chamber music is evident in every performance. With their commitment to education and outreach, Similia is sure to continue to inspire and educate audiences for years to come.More....
