Born on December 28, 1978, in Shanghai, China, Chang Jing showed an early interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of four. Her parents recognized her talent and encouraged her to pursue music as a career. Chang Jing's musical education began at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, where she studied under the tutelage of Professor Yin Chengzong. She later went on to study at the Royal Academy of Music in London, where she received a scholarship to study with Professor Christopher Elton. Chang Jing's talent and dedication to music were evident from an early age. She won her first piano competition at the age of six and went on to win numerous awards and accolades throughout her career. In 1993, she won first prize at the Shanghai Piano Competition, and in 1995, she won first prize at the National Piano Competition in China. Chang Jing's international career began in 1997 when she won first prize at the Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition in Salt Lake City, Utah. This victory propelled her onto the world stage, and she quickly became recognized as one of the most talented pianists of her generation. Over the years, Chang Jing has performed with some of the world's most prestigious orchestras, including the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic, and the Berlin Philharmonic. She has also collaborated with many renowned conductors, including Sir Simon Rattle, Zubin Mehta, and Lorin Maazel. One of Chang Jing's most memorable performances was her debut at Carnegie Hall in 2001. She performed a program of works by Beethoven, Chopin, and Liszt, which received critical acclaim from both the audience and the press.
