From a young age, Daggett showed a natural talent for music, and he began playing the piano at the age of four. Daggett's parents recognized his talent and encouraged him to pursue music seriously. He began taking piano lessons with renowned pianist and teacher, Maria João Pires, at the age of six. Pires quickly recognized Daggett's potential and took him under her wing, becoming his mentor and guiding him through his musical education. Daggett's talent continued to flourish under Pires' tutelage, and he began performing in public at the age of eight. He made his debut with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra at the age of ten, playing Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 20 in D minor. The performance was a huge success, and Daggett received critical acclaim for his virtuosic playing. Over the next few years, Daggett continued to perform in public, both as a soloist and as part of chamber ensembles. He won several competitions, including the International Piano Competition in Paris and the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in Texas. In 2003, Daggett was invited to perform at the prestigious Carnegie Hall in New York City. The performance was a major milestone in his career, and he received a standing ovation from the audience. The following year, he was awarded the Avery Fisher Career Grant, which is given to outstanding young musicians who show exceptional promise. Daggett's career continued to flourish, and he began performing with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra, and the New York Philharmonic. He also began recording his performances, and his recordings of Beethoven's Piano Sonatas and Chopin's Nocturnes received critical acclaim. In 2010, Daggett was invited to perform at the BBC Proms in London, one of the world's most prestigious classical music festivals. His performance of Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2 was hailed as one of the highlights of the festival, and he received a standing ovation from the audience. Daggett's career continued to go from strength to strength, and he was awarded the prestigious MacArthur Fellowship in 2012. The fellowship, also known as the "genius grant," is given to individuals who show exceptional creativity and promise in their field. In 2015, Daggett released his debut album, which featured his own compositions as well as works by Beethoven and Chopin.
