Alexander Korsantia is a world-renowned classical pianist known for his virtuosic performances and deep musicality. Born in Tbilisi, Georgia in 1962, Korsantia began playing the piano at the age of six and quickly showed a natural talent for the instrument. He studied at the Tbilisi State Conservatory under the guidance of renowned pianist Tengiz Amirejibi, and later continued his studies at the Moscow Conservatory with Lev Naumov. Korsantia's early career was marked by numerous competition wins, including first prize at the 1987 Rubinstein Piano Competition in Tel Aviv and the 1995 Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Master Competition in Jerusalem. These victories helped to establish him as a rising star in the classical music world, and he soon began to receive invitations to perform with major orchestras and at prestigious venues around the globe. One of Korsantia's most notable performances came in 1998, when he made his debut at Carnegie Hall in New York City. The concert, which featured works by Beethoven, Chopin, and Rachmaninoff, was met with critical acclaim and helped to solidify Korsantia's reputation as a world-class pianist. He has since returned to Carnegie Hall on numerous occasions, performing both solo recitals and concertos with orchestras such as the New York Philharmonic and the Philadelphia Orchestra. In addition to his solo performances, Korsantia is also a sought-after chamber musician and collaborator. He has worked with a number of renowned musicians, including violinist Gidon Kremer, cellist Yo-Yo Ma, and conductor Valery Gergiev. Korsantia is also a frequent guest artist at music festivals around the world, including the Salzburg Festival, the Edinburgh International Festival, and the Verbier Festival. Throughout his career, Korsantia has been recognized for his exceptional talent and artistry. In addition to his competition wins, he has received numerous awards and honors, including the Order of Honor from the President of Georgia in 2004 and the Medal of Honor from the Georgian Ministry of Culture in 2012. He has also been awarded the title of Honored Artist of Georgia and has been named a UNESCO Artist for Peace.
