In 1920, he was appointed as the conductor of the Columbia Broadcasting System (CBS) Symphony Orchestra, a position he held for over two decades. During his tenure at CBS, Barlow became a household name in America, thanks to his popular radio program, "Howard Barlow and His Orchestra." The show, which aired from 1928 to 1942, featured Barlow conducting the CBS Symphony Orchestra in live performances of classical music.
