Edson Scheid is a Brazilian classical saxophonist who has gained international recognition for his virtuosic performances and innovative approach to the saxophone. Born in 1993 in São Paulo, Scheid began playing the saxophone at the age of 11 and quickly showed a natural talent for the instrument. Scheid's early musical education was focused on jazz, but he soon became interested in classical music and began studying with renowned saxophonist Otávio Nestares. Under Nestares' guidance, Scheid developed a deep understanding of classical saxophone technique and repertoire, and began to explore the possibilities of the instrument in new and exciting ways. In 2012, Scheid was accepted into the prestigious Paris Conservatory, where he studied with saxophonist Claude Delangle. During his time at the conservatory, Scheid honed his skills as a performer and composer, and began to develop his own unique style of playing that blended classical and contemporary influences. Scheid's breakthrough performance came in 2015, when he won first prize at the Adolphe Sax International Saxophone Competition in Dinant, Belgium. This prestigious competition is named after the inventor of the saxophone, and attracts some of the world's most talented young saxophonists. Scheid's victory was a testament to his exceptional talent and hard work, and marked the beginning of his international career. Since then, Scheid has performed at some of the world's most renowned concert halls, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the Royal Albert Hall in London, and the Carnegie Hall in New York. He has collaborated with leading orchestras and conductors, including the Orchestre de Paris, the London Symphony Orchestra, and the New York Philharmonic. Scheid's repertoire is diverse and eclectic, ranging from classical works by composers such as Bach and Mozart to contemporary pieces by living composers. He is particularly known for his interpretations of works by French composers such as Debussy and Ravel, and has been praised for his ability to capture the unique sound and spirit of French music. In addition to his performing career, Scheid is also an accomplished composer and arranger. He has written several works for saxophone, including a concerto that he premiered with the São Paulo Symphony Orchestra in 2018. He is also known for his arrangements of popular songs, which he performs with his ensemble, the Edson Scheid Quartet. Scheid's talent and dedication have been recognized with numerous awards and honors. In addition to his victory at the Adolphe Sax International Saxophone Competition, he has won first prize at the Yamaha Music Foundation of Europe Competition and the International Saxophone Competition of Lille. He has also been awarded the Prix de la Fondation de France and the Prix de la Fondation Meyer. Despite his success, Scheid remains humble and focused on his craft. He continues to push the boundaries of the saxophone and explore new possibilities for the instrument, while also sharing his love of music with audiences around the world. With his exceptional talent and innovative spirit, Edson Scheid is sure to remain a leading figure in the world of classical music for years to come.More....
