Sjaellands Symphony Orchestra, also known as the Zealand Symphony Orchestra, is a classical music ensemble based in Denmark. The orchestra was founded in 1979 by conductor and composer Frans Rasmussen, who served as its artistic director until 1994. The orchestra's main members consist of approximately 70 professional musicians, including string, woodwind, brass, and percussion players. The ensemble is known for its high level of technical proficiency and its ability to perform a wide range of classical music repertoire, from Baroque to contemporary. Over the years, Sjaellands Symphony Orchestra has performed in numerous prestigious venues and festivals both in Denmark and abroad. Some of the orchestra's most notable performances include its debut at the Royal Danish Theatre in Copenhagen in 1980, its appearance at the Bergen International Festival in Norway in 1992, and its performance at the BBC Proms in London in 2009.
