Role:ConductorJohannes Schlaefli is a Swiss conductor and composer who has made a name for himself in the classical music world. Born on May 22, 1981, in Zurich, Switzerland, Schlaefli showed an early interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of six. He later took up the trumpet and studied at the Zurich University of the Arts, where he earned a degree in trumpet performance. After completing his studies, Schlaefli began his career as a freelance musician, performing with various orchestras and ensembles in Switzerland and abroad. He also began to develop an interest in conducting and studied with renowned conductors such as Bernard Haitink and David Zinman. In 2008, Schlaefli was appointed as the principal conductor of the Bern Symphony Orchestra, a position he held until 2014. During his tenure, he led the orchestra in numerous performances and recordings, including a critically acclaimed recording of the complete symphonies of Robert Schumann. In addition to his work with the Bern Symphony Orchestra, Schlaefli has conducted many other orchestras and ensembles around the world, including the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, and the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra.
