Role:EnsembleEnsemble LaFilia is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2008 by a group of musicians who shared a passion for chamber music. The ensemble is based in New York City and is known for its innovative programming and dynamic performances. The founding members of Ensemble LaFilia were violinist Emily Daggett Smith, violist Kyle Armbrust, cellist Michael Katz, and pianist David Kaplan. All four musicians had extensive experience performing in various chamber music ensembles and orchestras, and they came together with the goal of creating a new ensemble that would showcase their individual talents and unique musical perspectives. The album received critical acclaim and helped to establish the ensemble as a rising force in the classical music world. Over the years, Ensemble LaFilia has continued to perform at major venues and festivals around the world, including the Lincoln Center Festival, the Edinburgh International Festival, and the Spoleto Festival USA. The ensemble has also collaborated with a wide range of artists, including jazz pianist Vijay Iyer and singer-songwriter Gabriel Kahane.
