He also worked as a composer and arranger, creating music for films and television shows. In the 1950s, Kelly started his own orchestra, the Monty Kelly Orchestra. The orchestra quickly gained popularity and became known for its unique sound and style. Kelly's arrangements were innovative and incorporated elements of jazz and pop music, making his orchestra stand out from other classical music groups. One of the highlights of Kelly's career was his performance at the Hollywood Bowl in 1955. He conducted the Hollywood Bowl Symphony Orchestra, and the performance was a huge success. Kelly's arrangements of popular songs, such as "Blue Moon" and "Stardust," were particularly well-received by the audience. Kelly also received several awards and honors throughout his career. In 1956, he won a Grammy Award for Best Performance by an Orchestra for his album "Music for Peaceful Moments."
