Trio Zadig is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2014. The trio consists of Boris Borgolotto on violin, Marc Girard Garcia on cello, and Ian Barber on piano. The ensemble is named after the French philosopher Voltaire's character Zadig, who represents the pursuit of truth and justice. The three members of Trio Zadig met while studying at the Paris Conservatory, where they formed a strong musical bond. They quickly realized that they shared a passion for chamber music and decided to form an ensemble together. Since then, they have become one of the most sought-after chamber music groups in the world. Trio Zadig has won numerous awards and accolades for their performances. In 2017, they won the FNAPEC European Chamber Music Competition, which is one of the most prestigious chamber music competitions in Europe. They have also won the International Joseph Haydn Chamber Music Competition and the International Chamber Music Competition in Osaka, Japan. The ensemble has performed in some of the most prestigious concert halls in the world, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris, and the Wigmore Hall in London. They have also performed at major music festivals such as the Verbier Festival, the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, and the Festival de Radio France et Montpellier. One of the highlights of Trio Zadig's career was their performance at the 2018 BBC Proms. They performed a program of works by Ravel, Fauré, and Saint-Saëns to critical acclaim. The Guardian described their performance as "exquisite" and praised their "impeccable ensemble playing." Trio Zadig is known for their innovative programming, which often includes lesser-known works alongside more familiar pieces. They are also committed to commissioning new works from contemporary composers. They have premiered works by composers such as Bruno Mantovani, Benjamin Attahir, and Michael Jarrell. In addition to their performances, Trio Zadig is also dedicated to music education. They regularly give masterclasses and workshops to young musicians, and they have been artists-in-residence at several universities and conservatories. Trio Zadig has released several recordings, including an album of works by Ravel, Fauré, and Saint-Saëns, which was released in 2018. Their recordings have received critical acclaim, with Gramophone praising their "impeccable technique and musicality." Overall, Trio Zadig is a dynamic and innovative ensemble that has quickly established itself as one of the leading chamber music groups in the world. With their commitment to both traditional repertoire and new music, they are sure to continue to captivate audiences for years to come.More....
