Women's Voices of the Saint Louis Symphony Chorus is a classical music ensemble that has been enchanting audiences with their beautiful harmonies and soulful performances for over 40 years. The ensemble was founded in 1977 by the Saint Louis Symphony Chorus, which was established in 1958. The Women's Voices ensemble was created to provide a platform for female singers to showcase their talents and contribute to the overall sound of the chorus. The ensemble is made up of approximately 60 women who come from all walks of life and have a passion for music. They are led by Amy Kaiser, who has been the director of the Saint Louis Symphony Chorus since 1995. Kaiser is a highly respected conductor and has worked with many prestigious orchestras and ensembles throughout her career. Over the years, Women's Voices of the Saint Louis Symphony Chorus has performed in many notable venues and events. They have performed at the Powell Symphony Hall, the Sheldon Concert Hall, and the Cathedral Basilica of Saint Louis, among others. They have also been featured in many of the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra's performances, including their annual holiday concerts and their performances of Handel's Messiah. One of the highlights of Women's Voices' performances was their collaboration with the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra and the St. Louis Children's Choirs in 2017. The three ensembles came together to perform John Adams' "On the Transmigration of Souls," which was commissioned by the New York Philharmonic to commemorate the victims of the September 11th attacks. The performance was a moving tribute to those who lost their lives and received critical acclaim. Women's Voices of the Saint Louis Symphony Chorus has also received many awards and accolades over the years. In 2015, they were awarded the prestigious Margaret Hillis Award for Choral Excellence by Chorus America. The award recognizes outstanding choral ensembles that demonstrate artistic excellence, a strong organizational structure, and a commitment to education and outreach. In addition to their performances, Women's Voices of the Saint Louis Symphony Chorus is also committed to community outreach and education. They offer workshops and masterclasses for singers of all ages and skill levels, and they regularly perform at schools and community events throughout the Saint Louis area.
