Role:EnsembleGenre:ChamberKeyboardNES Chamber Orchestra is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2011 by a group of young musicians who shared a passion for chamber music. The ensemble is based in New York City and is known for its innovative programming and dynamic performances. The founding members of NES Chamber Orchestra were violinist Netanel Draiblate, violist Luri Lee, cellist Saeunn Thorsteinsdottir, and pianist Michael Brown. All four musicians had already established themselves as soloists and chamber musicians before coming together to form the ensemble. NES Chamber Orchestra quickly gained a reputation for its unique approach to programming. The ensemble's repertoire includes both traditional classical works and contemporary pieces, and the musicians often collaborate with composers to create new works. The ensemble also frequently performs in non-traditional venues, such as art galleries and museums, in an effort to make classical music more accessible to a wider audience. One of the highlights of NES Chamber Orchestra's early career was its performance at the 2012 Mostly Mozart Festival in New York City. The ensemble performed Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 12 in A Major, K. 414, with Michael Brown as the soloist. The performance was well-received by both audiences and critics, and helped to establish NES Chamber Orchestra as a rising star in the classical music world. In 2013, NES Chamber Orchestra released its debut album, titled "NES Chamber Orchestra: Live from the Crypt." The album was recorded in the crypt of the Church of the Intercession in New York City, and features works by Mozart, Schubert, and Brahms. The album received critical acclaim and helped to further establish the ensemble's reputation as a dynamic and innovative force in the classical music world. Over the years, NES Chamber Orchestra has collaborated with a number of renowned musicians and composers. In 2015, the ensemble performed the world premiere of "The Lost Words: Spell Songs," a new work by composer Kerry Andrew. The piece was inspired by the book "The Lost Words" by Robert Macfarlane and Jackie Morris, and featured vocals by folk musicians Julie Fowlis, Karine Polwart, and Seckou Keita. In 2017, NES Chamber Orchestra collaborated with composer and pianist Timo Andres on a new work titled "Strong Language." The piece was commissioned by the ensemble and premiered at the 2017 Ecstatic Music Festival in New York City. The performance was praised for its innovative use of technology, which allowed the musicians to interact with a computer-generated score in real time. In addition to its innovative programming and collaborations, NES Chamber Orchestra has also received numerous awards and accolades over the years. In 2014, the ensemble was awarded the Chamber Music America/ASCAP Award for Adventurous Programming. The award recognizes ensembles that demonstrate a commitment to innovative programming and the performance of new works. NES Chamber Orchestra has also been praised for its commitment to education and outreach. The ensemble frequently performs in schools and community centers, and has developed a number of educational programs designed to introduce young people to classical music. The ensemble's members also serve as faculty members at a number of prestigious music schools, including the Juilliard School and the Manhattan School of Music. Today, NES Chamber Orchestra continues to be a leading force in the classical music world.More....
