Christian Tschelebiew is a renowned classical music artist who has made a significant impact in the world of music. Born on May 5, 1985, in Sofia, Bulgaria, Christian showed an early interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of five. His parents recognized his talent and enrolled him in the National School of Music in Sofia, where he received formal training in piano and music theory. Christian's passion for music continued to grow, and he went on to study at the National Academy of Music in Sofia, where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Piano Performance. He then pursued a Master's degree in Piano Performance at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, Austria, where he studied under the guidance of renowned pianist and pedagogue Paul Badura-Skoda. During his studies, Christian participated in numerous competitions and won several awards, including first prize at the International Piano Competition "Young Virtuosos" in Sofia, Bulgaria, and second prize at the International Piano Competition "Citta di Barletta" in Italy. These achievements helped to establish Christian's reputation as a rising star in the world of classical music. After completing his studies, Christian embarked on a successful career as a concert pianist, performing in some of the world's most prestigious concert halls. He has appeared as a soloist with numerous orchestras, including the Vienna Chamber Orchestra, the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra, and the National Symphony Orchestra of Bulgaria. One of Christian's most notable performances was his debut at the Musikverein in Vienna, one of the world's most renowned concert halls. He performed Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 4 with the Vienna Chamber Orchestra to critical acclaim, earning praise for his technical skill and musical interpretation. Christian has also performed at other notable venues, including the Carnegie Hall in New York, the Royal Albert Hall in London, and the Berlin Philharmonic. He has collaborated with many distinguished conductors, including Zubin Mehta, Daniel Barenboim, and Sir Simon Rattle. In addition to his performances as a soloist, Christian is also an accomplished chamber musician. He has collaborated with many renowned musicians, including violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter and cellist Yo-Yo Ma. Together with his wife, violinist Lidia Baich, he formed the Tschelebiew-Baich Duo, which has performed extensively throughout Europe and Asia. Christian's recordings have received critical acclaim and have been released on major labels, including Deutsche Grammophon and Sony Classical. His recording of Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 4 with the Vienna Chamber Orchestra was praised by Gramophone magazine as "a performance of great depth and sensitivity." Christian's dedication to music has earned him numerous awards and honors. In 2010, he was awarded the Austrian Music Prize, one of the country's highest honors for musicians. He has also been awarded the Bulgarian Order of Stara Planina, the country's highest civilian honor, for his contributions to Bulgarian culture. In addition to his performing career, Christian is also a dedicated teacher. He has taught masterclasses at many prestigious institutions, including the Royal Academy of Music in London and the Juilliard School in New York. He is currently a professor of piano at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna.
