Viktoria Loukianets is a Ukrainian-born classical pianist who has gained international recognition for her virtuosic performances and musical interpretations. Born on May 5, 1987, in Kiev, Ukraine, Loukianets showed an early interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of five. Her parents, both professional musicians, recognized her talent and encouraged her to pursue a career in music. Loukianets received her early musical education at the Lysenko Special Music School for Gifted Children in Kiev, where she studied with renowned pianist and pedagogue Valery Kozlov. She quickly distinguished herself as a prodigious talent, winning numerous competitions and awards both in Ukraine and abroad. At the age of 12, she made her debut as a soloist with the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine, performing Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 23 in A major. In 2003, Loukianets was awarded a full scholarship to study at the prestigious Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, USA, where she studied with renowned pianist and pedagogue Gary Graffman. During her time at Curtis, she continued to win competitions and awards, including the Philadelphia Orchestra's Greenfield Competition and the Astral Artists National Auditions. She also performed as a soloist with the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, and the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine. After graduating from Curtis in 2008, Loukianets embarked on a busy concert career, performing extensively throughout the United States, Europe, and Asia. She has appeared as a soloist with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra, the St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra. She has also collaborated with many distinguished conductors, including Vladimir Ashkenazy, Valery Gergiev, and Sir Simon Rattle. Loukianets is known for her passionate and deeply expressive performances, as well as her technical mastery of the piano. She has a particular affinity for the music of the Romantic era, and has been praised for her interpretations of works by Chopin, Liszt, and Rachmaninoff. She has also championed the music of contemporary composers, and has premiered works by such composers as Lowell Liebermann and Michael Hersch. In addition to her busy concert schedule, Loukianets is also a dedicated teacher and mentor. She has given masterclasses and workshops at many of the world's leading music schools, including the Juilliard School, the Royal Academy of Music in London, and the Moscow Conservatory. She is also a faculty member at the Curtis Institute of Music, where she teaches piano and chamber music. Throughout her career, Loukianets has received numerous awards and accolades for her musical achievements. In 2010, she was awarded the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant, which recognizes outstanding young musicians who demonstrate exceptional talent and promise for the future. She has also been a recipient of the Gilmore Young Artist Award, the Borletti-Buitoni Trust Fellowship, and the S&R Washington Award. Despite her many accomplishments, Loukianets remains humble and dedicated to her craft. She continues to strive for excellence in her performances and to inspire the next generation of musicians through her teaching and mentorship.
