Role:PerformerPeriod:RomanticGenre:OperaAngelo Marchiandi was a renowned classical music artist who was born on January 15, 1950, in Milan, Italy. He was the youngest of three children and grew up in a family that was passionate about music. His father was a pianist, and his mother was a singer, and they both encouraged Angelo to pursue his musical interests from a young age. Angelo began playing the piano when he was just five years old, and he quickly showed a natural talent for the instrument. He began taking lessons with a local piano teacher, and by the time he was a teenager, he was already performing in public concerts. He also began studying composition and music theory, and he quickly developed a deep understanding of classical music. In 1968, Angelo was accepted into the prestigious Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi in Milan, where he studied piano performance under the guidance of renowned pianist and teacher, Carlo Zecchi. During his time at the conservatory, Angelo also studied composition with Franco Donatoni and attended masterclasses with some of the world's most celebrated pianists, including Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli and Vladimir Horowitz. After graduating from the conservatory in 1972, Angelo began his professional career as a concert pianist. He quickly gained a reputation for his virtuosic performances and his ability to bring out the emotional depth of the music he played. He performed extensively throughout Italy and Europe, and he also made several tours of the United States and Asia. One of Angelo's most memorable performances was his debut at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan in 1978. He performed Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5, "Emperor," with the La Scala Philharmonic Orchestra, and the performance was met with critical acclaim. The following year, Angelo was invited to perform at the Salzburg Festival, where he played Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 23 with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. Throughout his career, Angelo received numerous awards and accolades for his performances and recordings. In 1982, he was awarded the prestigious Premio Abbiati, which is the highest honor for classical musicians in Italy. He was also awarded the Grand Prix du Disque for his recording of Chopin's complete Nocturnes, and he received the Diapason d'Or for his recording of Schumann's Piano Concerto. In addition to his career as a concert pianist, Angelo was also a respected teacher and mentor. He taught at the Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi in Milan for many years, and he also gave masterclasses and workshops throughout Europe and Asia. He was known for his patient and encouraging teaching style, and many of his students went on to have successful careers as pianists and musicians. Sadly, Angelo's career was cut short when he was diagnosed with cancer in 1995. He continued to perform and teach for as long as he was able, but he passed away on June 12, 1997, at the age of 47. His legacy as a musician and teacher lives on, however, and he is remembered as one of the greatest pianists of his generation.More....
