The Montreal Chamber Players is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2013 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The ensemble is made up of some of the most talented and accomplished musicians in the city, and has quickly become one of the most respected and sought-after chamber groups in the country. The founding members of the Montreal Chamber Players were violinist Richard Roberts, violist Frédéric Lambert, cellist Sheila Hannigan, and pianist Philip Chiu. All four musicians had extensive experience performing in various orchestras and chamber groups, and had a shared passion for exploring the rich and diverse repertoire of classical music. From the beginning, the Montreal Chamber Players set out to create a unique and dynamic musical experience for their audiences. One of the highlights of the Montreal Chamber Players' career was their performance at the 2017 Banff International String Quartet Competition. The ensemble was invited to perform as part of the competition's "Showcase Series," which features some of the most exciting and innovative chamber groups from around the world. The Montreal Chamber Players' performance at the Banff competition was widely praised for its technical precision, musicality, and emotional depth.
