Martin Prokes was born on May 12, 1985, in Prague, Czech Republic. He grew up in a family of musicians, with his father being a renowned pianist and his mother a violinist. From a young age, Prokes showed a keen interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of four. Prokes received his formal music education at the Prague Conservatory, where he studied under the tutelage of renowned pianist and pedagogue, Ivan Klansky. During his time at the conservatory, Prokes won several awards and competitions, including the prestigious Prague Spring International Music Competition. After completing his studies at the conservatory, Prokes went on to pursue further education at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Munich, Germany. There, he studied under the guidance of renowned pianist and pedagogue, Gerhard Oppitz. Prokes' talent and dedication to his craft soon caught the attention of the classical music world, and he began receiving invitations to perform at major concert halls and festivals around the world. Some of his most notable performances include his debut at the Berlin Philharmonic Hall in 2008, where he performed Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5, and his performance at the Salzburg Festival in 2010, where he played Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 21. Prokes has also collaborated with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic, and the Vienna Philharmonic. He has worked with many renowned conductors, including Daniel Barenboim, Sir Simon Rattle, and Zubin Mehta. In addition to his performances as a soloist, Prokes is also an accomplished chamber musician. He has collaborated with many renowned musicians, including violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter and cellist Yo-Yo Ma.
