Gianna Fratta was born on May 12, 1985, in Milan, Italy. She grew up in a family of musicians, with her father being a renowned pianist and her mother a violinist. From a young age, Gianna showed a natural talent for music and began playing the piano at the age of four. Gianna's parents recognized her potential and enrolled her in the Milan Conservatory of Music at the age of six. She quickly excelled in her studies and began performing in public concerts at the age of eight. Her talent was evident, and she soon became a rising star in the classical music world. In 1996, Gianna won first prize in the prestigious International Piano Competition in Paris, France. This was a major accomplishment for the young musician and helped to launch her career. She continued to win numerous awards and accolades throughout her teenage years, including the Young Artist Award from the Italian Ministry of Culture in 2001. Gianna's talent and hard work paid off when she was accepted into the Juilliard School in New York City. She moved to the United States in 2003 and began studying under the renowned pianist and teacher, Yoheved Kaplinsky. After graduating from Juilliard in 2007, Gianna began performing in major concert halls around the world. One of Gianna's most memorable performances was at the Royal Albert Hall in London in 2010. She performed Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5, also known as the "Emperor Concerto," with the London Symphony Orchestra. Gianna continued to perform and record throughout the 2010s, releasing several albums of classical music. She also began to experiment with other genres, collaborating with jazz musicians and composers to create new and innovative works. In 2018, Gianna was awarded the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant, which recognizes outstanding young musicians who show great potential for a major career in classical music.
