Role:PerformerVitaly Samoshko is a Ukrainian classical pianist who has gained international recognition for his exceptional talent and musicality. Born on August 18, 1978, in Lviv, Ukraine, Samoshko showed an early interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of six. He was a prodigious talent, and his parents recognized his potential and encouraged him to pursue his passion for music. Samoshko's early musical education was at the Lviv Special Music School for Gifted Children, where he studied under the guidance of Professor Natalia Gridneva. He showed remarkable progress and won several awards at local and national competitions. In 1996, he graduated from the Lviv Music Academy with honors, and in the same year, he won the Grand Prix at the International Piano Competition in San Bartolomeo al Mare, Italy. After completing his studies in Lviv, Samoshko continued his education at the Tchaikovsky National Music Academy of Ukraine in Kyiv, where he studied under the renowned pianist and pedagogue Borys Fedorov. He also participated in masterclasses with such distinguished pianists as Vladimir Krainev, Dmitri Bashkirov, and Lazar Berman. Samoshko's talent and hard work paid off when he won the First Prize at the prestigious International Piano Competition in Leeds, UK, in 1998. This was a significant achievement for Samoshko, as the Leeds Competition is one of the most prestigious and challenging piano competitions in the world. His performance of Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 3 in the final round was particularly impressive and earned him high praise from the judges and the audience. Following his success at the Leeds Competition, Samoshko began to receive invitations to perform at major concert halls and festivals around the world. He has performed with many leading orchestras, including the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra, and the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine. He has also collaborated with renowned conductors such as Vladimir Ashkenazy, Valery Gergiev, and Sir Simon Rattle. Samoshko's repertoire is vast and includes works by Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, Liszt, Rachmaninoff, and many other composers. He is particularly known for his interpretations of the music of Sergei Rachmaninoff, and his performances of Rachmaninoff's Piano Concertos have been highly acclaimed. In addition to his concert performances, Samoshko is also a dedicated teacher and has taught at the Tchaikovsky National Music Academy of Ukraine and the Lviv Music Academy. He has also given masterclasses in many countries, including the UK, Germany, Italy, and China. Samoshko's talent and achievements have been recognized with numerous awards and honors. In addition to his success at the Leeds Competition, he has won prizes at the International Piano Competitions in San Bartolomeo al Mare, Italy, and in Hamamatsu, Japan. He has also been awarded the title of Honored Artist of Ukraine and the Order of Merit, Third Class, by the President of Ukraine.
